ELTE Budapest Introduction

Eötvös Loránd University is internationally recognized and its programs are accredited by the Hungarian Accreditation Board. The diplomas issued by Eötvös Loránd University are acknowledged worldwide, and its course credits are transferable in all countries in the European Union.


The university was named after one of its professors, the world-famous physicist, Loránd Eötvös. Currently, the university has eight faculties: Science, Informatics, Law and Political Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Education and Psychology, Elementary and Nursery School Teacher Training and the Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Education. Recently, a new campus has been built on the scenic banks of the Danube for the Faculties of Natural and Social Sciences and Informatics.


Exchange students must apply filling the form on the following Web Site. The completed form must be printed and signed by the applicant and the home university’s Erasmus coordinator. Then you have to send us the following docs by email at incoming@ppk.elte.hu

ELTE Budapest Academic Calendar

The ELTE academic year is divided into two semesters. The 1st Autumn Semester starts in September (01.09) and lasts until the end of January (31.01). The 2nd Sprimg Semester starts in February (04.02) and lasts until July (03.07). The last 6 weeks period of both semesters is the examination session.

National holidays: 15 March, 1 May, 23 October, 1 November
